Description
Freyr is the God of virility, peace, prosperity and good harvests, making it easy to understand why the Poetic Edda calls him “the foremost of the Gods” and “hated by none.” His role in providing health and abundance was often symbolized by his boar Gullinbursti or “Golden-Bristled”. One of his most prized possesions was a magic sword which fought on its own.
Freyr himself has been the lover of numerous Goddesses and giantesses, but fell in love with the female jötunn Gerðr, who eventually became his wife. In order to gain the hand of his wife, he had to give up his sword to Gerðr’s faher, the jötunn Skírnir.
Since that day, he uses a deer antler as a weapon in battle.
Even though he knew that during Ragnarok he would perish because of no longer having his trusty blade at his side, he never regretted doing so. The deer antler Freyr uses as a weapon is a constant reminder that true love requires sacrifice and devotion.
The ring has an inner construction of Tungsten Carbide Steel, an alloy known for its sturdiness and corrosion resistance. It is inlaid with a band of turquoise stone, a band of Hawaiian Koa wood and a band of naturally shed antler from from horned deer.
The deer species shed their antlers annually, giving us an amazing natural resource to utilize, year after year. The ring is 8mm wide.
